A Song In The Smoke Is Worth Two In The Bush
Time to dust off the helmet as a new VR game is in town; 17-BIT’s survival adventure, Song in the Smoke – with a release date next month.
- A Q&A With imaginarylab, Creators Of Whirlight – No Time To Trip
- The Best Of Two Worlds In Shin Chan: Shiro And The Coal Town
- Blood Hunting Is Dark And Dangerous, This Summer On PS5
You must have played their other title Skulls of the Shogun? Well, it’s nothing like that. Instead, you’ll go back much further in time to a prehistoric world – a place where you must fight, forage and survive. Oh, and there’s crafting too, but nothing elaborate.
Making full use of the immersion of VR, Song in the Smoke allows players to get in touch with their ancestors as they hunt in the long grass identifying targets with sound, sight and smell. As immersive as VR can be, you’ll have to fill in the blanks on the smells.
When we decided to make Song in the Smoke we knew we wanted to make more than a VR tech demo, but rather a fully fleshed out survival adventure that captures the danger and wonder of the natural world. It’s a place you want to be… even when it scares the bejesus out of you.
