Is it Lovecraft’s birthday or some sort of Cthulu anniversary? There’s been a lot of Lovecraft on show lately; Innmouth Chronicle Mountains of Madness, Lovecraft Tales demo, Lust From Beyond and so on – today’s announcement is Arkham Horror Mother’s Embrace.
An early version of myself would have interpreted that as a Batman reference. Still, as I slowly morph into a slightly obsessive character from these, hopefully, works of fiction, I can’t get enough. Last night’s film was The Void, if you’re interested.
Anyhoo, based on a tabletop game, Arkham Horror Mother’s Embrace is a ‘mystery-thriller tactical RPG‘ from Asmodee Digital and Artefacts Studio, based on Fantasy Flight Games board game, and available now.
Set in 1926, a professor of astronomy is found dead, and the victim of murder. You get to select from 12 characters from the Arkham Horror universe, each equipped with their perks and approach to the investigation.
Naturally, you’ll be dealing with the occult, which taps into the Cthulhu Mythos, so fellow weirdos will be in their element as you get to battle the ‘unseen supernatural and psychological horrors in a 1920s American pulp world. Sold.

There’s no mucking about; the ritual is complete: Arkham Horror Mother’s Embrace is out now on Steam, PS4, Xbox One and the Nintendo Switch with a 20% launch discount for PlayStation Plus members. Sweet.
