On the Switch next month, Art Sqool is an experimental game about creativity, exploring a mysterious campus of art.

Art is an acquired taste, so instead of looking at something someone else as created and shifting forward with an armchair critique (says the game reviewer), why not do something yourself?

Art Sqool is an experimental game that focuses on creativity by giving the player, or artist, creative tasks to perform, created by 3D artist Julian Glander with the assistance of RedDeerGames.

The game has you play a student who is set tasks by his professor which is an advanced AI unit that follows you around giving the requirements, but it’s up to you on how you go about it.

The features include:

  • BE CREATIVE. The professor is a really cool dude. And painting is all about having fun, so go crazy! Over 200 inspiring prompts will help you break through any creative block.
  • EXPLORE AMAZING CAMPUS. You’ve never seen anything like it.
  • RELAX. OK, there might be some challenges in the game, but it also gives the players an opportunity to unwind: you can relax to chillout music and slow tempo of the game.
  • BECOME A COLLECTOR. Find and collect cool brushes to help you in your artistic process. There are numerous extras hidden around the map, like a wiggle brush, rainbow pencil, and… a mop.

There’s a new school in town, and it’s Art Sqool:

Out on the Nintendo Switch this October.
