You probably already know this if you’re a fan, but Baldur’s Gate 3 Early Access has been announced for the 30th of September.

In the announcement, Larian Studios released the final part of its CGI introduction showing the journey players make to Avernus, the first layer of the Nine Hells.

The location has been seen before in the D&D module Descent Into Avernus where the city Elturel was dragged into hell and set up the events for Baldur’s Gate 3 where you’re aboard a nautiloid. Naturally.

As it begins, you have to escape the ship as it jumps between the planes of existence and ‘caught up in the fury of the eternal, apocalyptic Blood War that rages across the hellscape.’

Classes and races will be confirmed closer to the date, but what has been verified so far is the five launch characters:

  • Astarion (Elf/Vampire Rogue)
  • Gale (Human Wizard)
  • Lae’ zel (Githyanki Warrior)
  • Shadowheart (Half-Elf Cleric)
  • Wyll (Human Warlock).

Another feature verified is the depth of reactivity through player actions with the NPCs:

In very simple terms, playing “good” and playing “evil” will offer wholly different experiences with many twists and turns (all performance captured) that other players may never see, depending on their choices.
