Book Of Demons Out At The End Of April

Book Of Demons Out At The End Of April

When the term ‘deck-building’ showed up in the promo material for Book of Demons, I was quite quick to be dismissive of the title, but having read on and seen the trailer… wow.

To paint a brief picture, I’m the type who skips over the card games in Red Dead Redemption 2 and The Witcher 3 unless it’s mandatory, but lately, I’ve been surprised at the revival of deck-based games or those that require the roll of a die.

Cue Tharsis review link.

Book of Demons, published by 505 Games, goes for the faithful aesthetic of Diablo or Baldur’s Gate, but rather than have players embark on the typical RPG path, you rely on your deck skills to carry out an action.

Tongue firmly in cheek, Book of Demons promotes itself as a bit of a parody, but it shouldn’t be dismissed as a joke title – there’s a lot more to it than that.

Here are some of the very many features in Book of Demons:

  • Three playable classes, each with different cards: Warrior, Rogue and Mage
  • 40 cards with magical and legendary variants per character class
  • Three underground realms and epic Quest Boss battles
  • 7 families of monsters with 70+ variations including custom traits and mechanics
  • Roguelike mode for fans seeking an extreme challenge
  • Four unlockable endgame difficulties in Freeplay mode after completing the campaign
  • Complete offering of cards ever released
  • Special grand finale surprise after defeating the insidious Archdemon

Book of Demons has already won numerous industry awards including Indie of the Year, but even without these accolades, this game has piqued my interest, as I’m sure it has yours.

Book of Demons is out on the Switch, PS4 and Xbox One from the 30th April, and if you pre-order the Switch version now, you can get 10% off.
