Cake Invaders Out Tomorrow? Sweet!

Using ‘cake’ in a heading warrants the same attention as ‘sex’, or ‘free money’. Cake Invaders already has my attention through its title, but held it through the trailer.

From ZOO Corporation and Eastasiasoft, this indie shooter has a hint of Space Invaders (the greatest shmup of all-time?), but has a more profound purpose: protect the Baumkuchen cakes from alien invaders. 

Why Baumkuchen? Well, the devs are Japanese, and the Japanese love their Baumkuchen cakes – it says here. I’ve just asked my wife to confirm, and she says it’s true, and she represents Japan in this scenario. However, I’d argue that Japanese style cheesecake is the best.

Back to reality. Cake Invaders key features include:

• Shoot down hordes of hungry aliens using your minigun!
• Experience a mix of tower defense and arcade shoot’em up action.
• Control multiple characters simultaneously to fire in unison.
• Earn upgraded weaponry and expand your crew!
• Climb online leaderboards to share your victories!
• Enjoy cute and colorful pixel art presentation.
