Cathedral: Choose From Over 600 Rooms!
Having a peek at the trailer for Cathedral, you’d be forgiven for thinking this a port of a classic metroidvania, but it’s a new title from Decemberborn Interactive and Elden Pixels, who brought us the fantastic Alwa’s Legacy.
You control a nameless knight working with a spirit known as Soul with no recollection on how you arrived. Together, you have to investigate who you are and how you got there, then once done, return home.
In Cathedral, players will experience well over 600 rooms via an interconnected map with an 8-bit aesthetic. Sometimes 8-bit is a nod at old school graphics that can be dismissed and the focus on gameplay, but I have to say, the visuals in this are brilliant.
That probably has something to do everything being hand-crafted, featuring a plethora of locations, secrets, puzzles, items and special challenges. You’ll battle five fearsome guardians to unlock orbs that were placed by the demi-god Ardur.
