Out now on the Switch (I saw it on the eShop), Charge Kid is a unique platformer puzzle type that has been compared with Super Meat Boy (read the Forever review!), Portal and Celeste.

Applying a ‘clever use of game mechanics and within limited resources’, you have to calculate your moves logically and with precision, so don’t go expecting a platform game you can switch off to.

From Pineapple Works and developed by Ayrton, Rafael and Vincente (they might need a working title such as Charge Kids), the game consists of 17 levels and claims that it would take the average player hours to master. I’m adding an extra week then, on that basis!

Key features in Charge Kid include:

  • Tight controls and fluid movement.
  • Challenging gameplay.
  • Puzzles with multiple solutions.
  • Cute and minimalistic pixel art.
  • Slick sound effects and music.
  • Overall nostalgic vibe and tribute to retro platformers.

Here’s a trailer:

I don’t doubt for one second that this is challenging, but that music makes it feel pretty chill. Charge Kid is out now on the Nintendo Switch for a silly price (by silly, I mean super cheap!).
