Chess Knights Shinobi has kind of given away the idea in the title. Underrepresented in the world of chess, the ninja gets their chance in the spotlight to outwit the enemy not just through caltrops and shurikens but chess tactics.

An unusual but welcome title, QUByte Interactive (99 Vidas) and Minimol Games are launching the game for the Switch, PS4 and Xbox One. Set in feudal Japan, you use the art of infiltration, sabotage and assassination to fulfil your duties.

Key features in Chess Knights Shinobi include:

  • All pieces move like in a chess game. You play as a Shinobi Knight who needs to move stealthy through a game board full of Samurai enemies;
  • 50 hand-crafted levels with increasing complexity (+ 10 secret “surreal” levels. Can you find them?).
  • Originally composed soundtracks;
  • A chess game without any chess. This is an original game concept for chess lovers and newcomers alike (you do not need to know any chess to play it).
