City builders are ace, but what about City Block Builder? The extra word means extra cool as this game from Tentworks Interactive is set in 1950s LA and allows you to build your empire on PC later this year.

A tycoon management simulator, the game chases the American Dream on the tail end of WWII. LA has been a pop culture hub, and you need to monetize on it by building everything from cinemas and restaurants to bowling alleys.

Verifying my inner (or is it an outie?) nerd, I’m pretty excited about City Block Builder. Besides the typical micro management, we should expect from a game of its ilk; it’s the little touches that make this unique. How about booking the bands for your jazz club, through to controlling what furniture goes into a room as well as its lighting?

Drawing (ha!) from a Technicolor palette, the game’s assets are also hand-drawn, taking inspiration from the movies, posters and comic books of the 50s, from architecture to fashion. Making a massive sweeping statement, I doubt most gamers weren’t able to experience the era the first time, but this looks like a decent alternative, without the need for a DeLorean.

We are excited to see how the players from around the world will use their wits to tackle any challenge that gets thrown at them. Welcome to the glamorous world of City Block Builder, we hope you enjoy it when it comes to PC later this year!

Here’s a trailer for City Block Builder:

There’s no concrete (building reference) release date set, but it’s on schedule for a 2021 release. I’ll be sure to report any scoops, but in the meantime, wishlist it on Steam for further notifications.
