A playable demo of Cris Tales is out now on the Nintendo Switch, PS4 and Xbox One.

Already a crowd-pleaser during the Steam Summer Festival, Cris Tales is a love letter to JRPGs. In the title, lead character Crisbell has the power to see the past, present and future, without the need for it to be Christmas.

Currently in development by Dreams Uncorporated and SYCK, with the publishing expertise of Modus Games who have Skully coming out in August (looking forward to that too), the game draws in many cultural elements from Columbia – home of the development team.

There’s an interesting read on Modus Games’ site here.

Players can force enemies into another period and battle them under their terms, or in the colosseum with Wilhelm where you take on eight waves of enemies and a mini-boss fight.

As well as Wilhelm, Crisbell is joined by Matias and Cristopher as they traverse the lands of Crystallis, starting with Crisbell’s hometown of Narim.

Time travelling shenanigans often give me a headache, but time will tell how the story in Cris Tales plays out. Ha: time will tell. Brilliant.

Cris Tales will be available from the 17th of November on the Switch, PS4 and Xbox One.
