The Crypt of the Serpent King Opens Its Doors To 4K Next-Gen
Low and behold, The Eye of the Beholder is remastered in 4K, but ’tis a lie; the remaster in question is Crypt of the Serpent King. What the heck am I talking about then?
In the olden days of the Amiga 500 (the best computer of all-time), there was a game I often played called The Eye of the Beholder. Look it up, the internet is your friend. It was more or less a first-person dungeon crawler featuring all sorts of skellywags and monsteroids with melee and ranged combat.
Admittedly, I’m not a fan of first-person melee, but watching the trailer for Crypt of the Serpent King excites me and reminds me of the old days of crawling, hence the reference. Like the aforementioned, it’s a medieval hack ‘n’ slash where you’re up against underworldly creatures, hunting for new gear and abilities.
Key features include:
- Explore vast randomly generated dungeons in first-person perspective!
- Fight in real-time against orcs, skeletons and other creatures of the underworld.
- Level up your character’s abilities as you progress!
- Wield a wide variety of melee and ranged weapon types.
- Choose from 3 levels of difficulty, from casual to hardcore.
- Behold remastered 4K visual presentation!
And here’s that trailer that prompted me to write the article:
Crypt of the Serpent King is out on the 8th of July for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, from Eastasiasoft, and, get this, it’s only $2.99/€2.99!!
