Psychological horror Dark Fracture is an upcoming title for the PC and next-gen consoles, scheduled for February 2021, inspired by the works of H.R. Giger.

I broke my loose rule of not watching anything too scary late at night, and I watched the various trailers for upcoming Dark Fracture. It’s not that I’m a complete pussy, but my imagination is a little more on the vivid side, and certain things could play on my mind.

In the multiple trailers on the official site, aside from the various arms coming out of walls that reminded me of the rather excellent Silent Hill 4: The Room, there wasn’t much in terms of enemies, but atmosphere? Brilliant.

Dark Fracture, from Twisted II Studio, is an ever-changing world set in the late 90s in the rural USA. You play Edward, a farm employee who finds distraction from his troubled past by putting on a brave face and indulging in his work.

A catalytic event soon puts Edward in a delicate position, and he finds himself losing grip on reality. His world literally twists and turns in front of him, inspired by the works of H.R. Giger (check out the Lust From Beyond Prologue if you’re a fan of the style).

Key features in Dark Fracture include:

  • Photo-Realistic Graphics
  • Inventory System
  • Physical Items
  • Sanity Meter
  • Limited Light Sources
  • Dual Wielding
  • Procedurally Generated Events
  • Decision Making
