The Eastasiasoft Summer Showcase Vid Is Out

In the unlikely event that you haven’t seen Eastasiasoft’s latest summer showcase, here’s a rundown of what to expect from the indie publisher in the next couple of months.

Here’s a rundown of Eastasiasoft’s upcoming games for August and September…

Enter Digiton: Heart of Corruption

Enter Digiton is the first on the list and is out now. With an 8-bit aesthetic, my spider senses are picking up that it’ll have the same brutal challenges associated with the genre. Time will tell.

Crimson Spires

Don’t tell the missus, but this looks like a good one. You play sheriff, Erika Wright, when she becomes trapped in the town during an investigation, all the while a vampire presence emerges and a serial killer is on the loose.

An adventure/visual novel mixing 2D and 3D art, Crimson Spires is a title fellow vampire fiends will want to keep an eye on.

Rogue Explorer

Rogue Explorer is an action platformer with the current trend of having a melee weapon hover in front of the protagonist (see Apple Slash). 

Coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch on 18th of August, this is a rogue-like boasting 10+ dungeon types, but a little fairer than the typical realities associated with the genre.

Pretty Girls Panic!

If you’re absent-minded and going to assume that Pretty Girls Panic! is a dirty game, other than the rewarding and revealing pics of anime girls (if that’s your thing), the gameplay resembles Bishoujo Battle Cyber Panic, and to tell the truth, that was a fun game. 

The pictures could have been snails, and it’d still be enjoyable gameplay, so again, if you like the imagery, quids in! Coming to PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch in late August.

Ravva and the Cyclops Curse

This game reminds me of Warlock’s Quest on the Amiga (a good thing). Summoning up to four companions to bring peace to her land, Ravva has got a lot on her plate – especially as she has to take on the Cyclops Lord in this 8-bit platformer.

GLO

GLO is a bit square, but not in the lame sense. Take control of a 2D square and leap of faith in this poorly lit platform puzzler. Poorly lit is a design choice, of course, and there’s a hint in the title.

Underneath this… dark exterior is an emotional story that reveals itself over the 100 or so levels on offer. Coming to PS4, PS5 and the Nintendo Switch.

Poker Pretty Girls Battle: Texas Hold ’em

Another self-advertising game as it’s in the title. In fear of sounding judgemental, this isn’t the type of game I get excited about – not because of the ladies, but I can’t stand card games – except for deck-building RPGs.

Crisis Wing

Woot! Vertical shooter fans gather around as Crisis Wing is a throwback to all the genre classics, and judging from the brief trailer; it looks nice and speedy.

Zero Strain

For the PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, this top-down shooter is a mixture of offensive and defensive play in what appears to be a pretty hectic shmup.

Bishoujo Battle Cyber Panic!

A few months back, I reviewed Bishoujo Battle Cyber Panic, but the latest is a PS5 version, coming on 10th September.

Delicious! Pretty Girls Mahjong Solitaire

Another one of those titles that you might decide upon from the visuals alone, and if you’re in the ball park of ‘skip’, Mahjong and Solitaire are a whole lot better than cards, in my opinion. Make your own mind up on this one.

Xuan Yuan Sword 7

Coming to the PS4 and Xbox One, Xuan Yuan Sword 7 looks like it’ll be an epic. Like Shenmue mixed with Dark Souls, the series is getting its debut in the West, and it seems like we’ve missed out big time.

Rather than repeat myself, read the news piece with the accompanying trailer. This is on my radar, so hopeful of a review materialising close to the release date in September.

Omen of Sorrow

Not something you often see with Eastasiasoft, but Omen of Sorrow is a 2D, four-button fighting game using the Unreal 4 engine. Alas, this looks like it’s only available for the Xbox One, so not a game I’ll be covering (not in spite, I just don’t have one).
