Escape From Naraka…or else… Headup Games’ latest title, following the rather excellent Aerial_Knight’s Never Yield, is this first-person survival platformer coming to Steam next month.

Set for a release in Q3 2021, this game from Xelo Games features an underrepresented tale of Balinese mythology where you have to rescue your loved one through a ‘nightmarish, labyrinthine temple dominated by an evil demon called Rangda the Leyak Queen.

Escape From Naraka takes its inspiration from SEUM: Speedrunners From Hell, DOOM and Dark Deception, teaching players to dodge and perfect their jumping to line up a successful escape.

Key features in the game include:

  • Exotic Balinese themed levels full of platforming challenges, traps, and adversities
  • Terrifying enemies that bar the way to your freedom
  • Unique abilities which are essential for your successful escape
  • Lots of secrets to uncover for those who are keen enough to find them
  • Leaderboards for each level and one for the complete run so you can see how you fare against others
  • 3D scan technology was used to build this unique world, so most of the environmental assets exist in real life

Though the game isn’t expected until Q3 2021 (not long now), you’ll be able to try the demo from the 16th June on Steam. Make sure to wishlist it!
