Every once in a while, a game like G-Rebels comes along. What type of game that is, I can't say other than it's one that could fill the void since Afterburner and Microcosm - a first-person combat flight sim that's coming next year.
Developed by Reakktor Studios and published by Senatis, this aerial combat game isn't just a trigger-happy vehicle that looks stunning in its Unreal 5 packaging, but it has substance, too, as it's set in a dystopian 2684 cyberpunk world that spans an insane 12,000 km squared distance.
G-Rebels has you play as a pilot fighting organised crime, but also moonlighting in side quests as a bounty hunter, racing pilot, bodyguard, mercenary, pirate, miner, AND a candlestick maker! Upgrade your ultra-modern Skyblade ship with new engines, weapons, shields and stealth devices, then cruise across neon-lit metropolises with zero loading screens.
At Reakktor, we love open-world and space exploration games... We are also big fans of the cyberpunk and anime genres, so it was natural for us to develop a sci-fi action flight sim. But we didn't want to develop yet another space game. Despite the dystopian, futuristic setting we chose, the world of G-Rebels, with its dynamic weather and day-night cycles, offers so much beauty and breathtaking vistas that we really wanted to have Earth as the setting for our game – Martin Schwiezer, Founder and Studio Lead at Reakktor Studios
G-Rebels is due in 2025. You can wishlist it on Steam now.
