The second title this week that draws upon The Thing, Hidden Deep is a claustrophobic sci-fi coming to PC this year, with a playable demo out next month.
A 2D action game inspired by classic 80s/90s sci-fi, this game from Cogwheel Software and Daedalic Entertainment puts players in a suboceanic research and mining facility inhabited by alien creatures.
You lead the team of four researchers that have to find out what happened to the rest of the crew that disappeared. Hidden Deep has been compared to other titles other than The Thing, is Alien, and the first Half-Life game. Could there be any more reason to be stoked for this demo next month?!
Key features in the game include:
- A mission-based single player experience where you control your team directly or by giving orders.
- Story mode with more than 50 narrative-driven, handcrafted levels paying homage to 80s and 90s sci-fi classics.
- Challenge mode with randomized levels for fast-paced, intense action.
- Exploration of suboceanic caves using grappling-hooks, scanners, drones, heavy machinery and more.
- Sneaky and deadly aliens, environmental traps and other hidden dangers to make your life miserable – and exciting.

A demo will be available during the Steam Games Festival from February 3rd through to February 9th, the full game released later in the year.
