Honour Runs Is A Visceral Shooter Catering For Your Eyeballs And Earholes
Shoot ’em ups have leapfrogged the deluge of titles I’ve been playing of late – Bezier comes to mind as the most recent one. It’s a great genre, especially the retro ones and Honour Runs should be on your radar.
Initially for the Xbox 360 titled Smatter: Honour Runs, this new Steam edition is a remix, and somewhat tribute, to the original game from noeyehand Games.
Clicking on the link to the trailer and hearing the music was what got my attention, first of all, doing a double-take from one monitor to the next. Did I inadvertently click something on my Spotify playlist? Nope. This is the soundtrack!
Back to the game… it’s a ‘frenetic’ twin-stick shooter that boasts 15 handcrafted dungeons. Judging by the gameplay, this doesn’t look like a chill game and taps into the old adrenal gland. It looks like bullet hell.
Key features in Honour Runs include:
- 15 handcrafted, increasingly complex, and challenging dungeons.
- A score attack system based on balanced aggression, speed, damage received and kills made.
- AI and game mechanic enhancements from Xbox 360’s version.
- Remixed versions of each of the levels available to unlock.
- Global leader boards
- Rétro atmosphere and Electro Music
And no doubt you want to see it in action (and hear a sample of the music)?
Honour Runs is out on Steam from the 16th February. That’s not long to go now…
