Have you ever wondered how fish is made? Same. And no, you only get one question. 'Where do babies come from?' is banned. Besides, it's Amazon. As for our scaly Omega-3 pals, Wrong Organ are the expert, and they've made an interactive documentary that is currently available to play on Steam for FREE.
How Fish Is Made is an existential predicament that is open-ended. It's an answer that will never be truly understood, but to get clarity, one should always choose up, not down. No - down. I can't make my mind up. Let's ask the other fish.
How Fish Is Made Review
Flapping about like a fish out of water, you drive your fishy protagonist through a claustrophobic tin prison where you search for the meaning of life. This isn't a cute Help, I'm A Fish! or Finding Nemo moment, as there's no swimming, and the colour palette is fiendishly oppressive. Without any water to swim through, your fins clumsily wiggle about, hoping to meet your brethren who can help answer the question: is it up or down?
The sardine that you play in How Fish Is Made isn't pretty. The game is part walking simulator (with fins) and part horror, and regardless of your connection with the fishing world, the imagery is unsettling. Rooms and corridors are dimly lit, the fate of fellow fish can sometimes be in your... fins (again), and it isn't comforting. My eldest daughter has revealed in the past couple of years that fish honestly freak her out, and for someone like her, this will be a bona fide scare-fest. I wasn't scared (honest), but the visuals, atmosphere and set pieces were gross, and I loved it.
A Bit Fishy
While the mood is often uncomfortable, in an entertaining way, of course, the beats take a turn for a bit of sing-song. As the game is free, I suggest you download and experience it yourself - it's surreal and equally a delight. And whether your question of How Fish Is Made is answered or not, you get bonus content featuring our favourite Curly since fries make an alarming extended cameo, with our sardine adopting a Katamari approach of scooping up fish guts and rollin' rollin' rollin'.
