HyperX has announced an update to the HyperX Alloy Origins keyboard by adding the Blue switch option, giving PC gamers and one-handed typists a bit more flexibility in their endeavours.

Though not making a conscious effort to cover hardware on this site as I don’t do unboxings etc., I have found myself sniffing around PC gaming setups once again and looking to build a new machine.

Only recently I purchased the HyperX HX-KB7RDX-US Alloy Origins Core tenkeyless keyboard which features red switches. I only know this as I just read the Amazon link (not affiliated).

I subsequently changed the keys over to white HyperX Pudding Keycaps, purely for aesthetic purposes, and have been enjoying the experience ever since. I even hot-swap it for my overpriced wireless Mac keyboard, and though it’s a little noisy in comparison, it’s very satisfying to use.

Well, there’s a new HyperX keyboard line-up, and this time it’s the HyperX Alloy Origins that features Blue mechanical switches. These offer a shorter actuation point and allow for over 80 million clicks – perfect for cutting and pasting quotes onto a gaming website.

The HyperX Alloy Origins mechanical keyboard is their first full-sized gaming keyboard with dedicated HyperX Blue switches, using the same brushed finish alloy body and that oh-so-satisfying clicky sound. HyperX isn’t sponsoring this post, I’m posting as someone who paid for the earlier model, and while it’s a dust magnet, it’s the best keyboard I’ve ever owned.

Adding the new HyperX Blue switches alongside the existing Red and Aqua options allows gamers to choose their preferred switch type while receiving the performance, reliability and style found in HyperX-branded switches.

As before, the HyperX Alloy Origins features RGB backlit keys ‘with exposed LED for brighter illumination with radiant lighting effects and five adjustable brightness levels to enhance gaming, day or night’, with customisable per-key lighting effects.

I’m still on the fence about cables. Wanting to avoid any lag and blocking the airwaves with numerous wireless tech, wired is the fastest option, and this keyboard also features a detachable USB-C lead.
