Into The Emberlands: Knick Knack Paddywack, Give The Lightbearer A Lantern

Blending cosy exploration with a rogue-lite? Isn't that an oxymoron? Find out in Into the Emberlands when it launches in Early Access in the Summer.

I wish Daedalic Entertainment had gone the extra mile and added an Into the Emberlands theme tune to the trailer in the style of Into the Unknown from Frozen 2. It’s my favourite film of all time. Ha, as if. No, you can keep your soundtrack Disney, and the 90s can have back its ‘as if’ quip – I want to get my hands on this rogue-lite.

Outside of the lovely visuals, the first thing you might notice about this game is the combination of ‘cosy exploration’ and ‘rogue-lite‘. Is that even possible? Tiny Roar thinks so, and they know a bit about game development, having made XEL and Bomb Bots.

Into the Emberlands is about the land of Emberlands – an enchanting world home to the peaceful Knacks that has been engulfed by darkness and mysterious Miasma. It’s up to the Lightbearer to venture out with their magical lantern and be the literal light to guide back those who’ve lost their path to darkness – i.e. politicians, footballers, and triple-A game developers.

It’ll be launched in Early Access in the Summer, but before then, make sure to wishlist Into the Emberlands on Steam… when it goes live. I’m writing this before it’s has a page 🙁
