Folk have been busy in the adventure department during the Steam Next Fest as the first entry is Kraken Academy from Fellow Travellers (Neo CabChurch In The Darkness) and Happy Broccoli Games.

You play you (you get to name yourself) in this demo. If you thought your school was/is quirky, wait until you see Kraken Academy, which is far from a misdescription when you reach the lake adjacent to the facility.

Meeting up with talking broccoli… she enlists you into the music club, with you on keyboards. After meeting the crew, such as the ‘lovely’ Simona, you’re told about an upcoming party, and you need to fetch a costume from the lake.

Before that, you’ve given a baseball bat to smash the crap out of any locker, bin or destructible object so that you can acquire bottles. Take this to a vending machine, and voila – you have some hard-earned money.

Alas, you can’t spend it as this is a Kraken Academy demo, which is very self-aware that it’s a demo. It takes about 15 minutes to go through, but if that, plus the whatever-speed-internet-you-have will eat into your precious time, watch/skim through the gameplay below:

Kraken Academy is due for release in 2021, but if you’re quick, you can play the demo up until the 22nd June 2021.
