Minecraft isn’t the definitive block-building outlet – it’s LEGO, and with the announcement that LEGO Bricktales is underway and being published by none other than Thunderful, the future is promising.

I was never a keen LEGO goer but naturally had a literal bucketload growing up and can’t help but get stuck in when playing with my kids. In video games, other than those Hollywood franchise titles such as LOTR, it’s been more about the adventure rather than craftingLEGO Dimensions was a bit of a letdown too.

If you’ve been looking forward to a videogame to complement your block fix, LEGO Bricktales could be the title to bridge that gap. Coincidentally, it’s developed by Clockstone who created the Bridge Constructor series. Set over five different biomes, this isn’t a sandbox but a puzzle game.

Key features include:

  • Test your skills with varied puzzles: Different types of puzzles will test your building skills. Use your engineering brain in functional physics-based puzzles to build a bridge for a digger to get across a river, put your designer hat on to build a stunning new throne for the King, or customize the rides in the amusement park.
  • Master your builds in Sandbox Mode: Unlock the Sandbox Mode upon completing a construction spot, then you go back in and improve your build with a huge selection of additional bricks from different themes.
  • Heaps of items to collect and unlock: Find collectables in the different dioramas and use them to buy cool new items for your wardrobe or new brick color sets for the sandbox mode.
  • Build your unique character: Create your own minifigure character from a huge selection of parts and unlock more options inspired by the worlds you visit as you progress through the story.

The challenges in the game will test both problem-solving skills and one’s imagination as you help the mini-figures from each biome with their predicament. Taking place in the city, through tropical Caribbean islands, there’s a nice bit of variety with settings synonymous with LEGO kits.

Everyone loves LEGO Bricks, and we are no exception, so we couldn’t be happier to get the chance to work on a LEGO videogame. We hope you enjoy this first look at LEGO Bricktales and will have a great time diving into the game’s story, sandbox mode, unlockable abilities and much more!
