Not Another Weekend: Blame It On The Bell Boy

Many many weekends ago, I had a play with Not Another Weekend. Another game from the Steam Game Festival, or thereabouts, among titles such as Inspector WafflesFate Of Kai and loads more.

The demo had quite a bit going for it, and at one point, I was under the impression that it was a prologue or similar. Then, just as I was balls deep, the fun ended, and it was back to my non-hotel lifestyle.

So, what’s it about? You play a chap named Mike Melkout. He’s officially the bell boy at a hotel, but he’s essentially the dog’s body, doing all the jobs everyone else hates. His appearance, attitude, and living quarters are all half-arsed, but after exploring a bit, you find he has a master plan, and perhaps these looks are deceiving.

Not Another Weekend, from Dionous Games, is a chunky pixel, old school point and click. It didn’t take long for me to fall in love with it or the many guests that start to filter through the hotel doors that you have to steadily eliminate through such cunning plans.

Key features in Not Another Weekend include:

  • Beautiful pixel art graphics.
  • A unique story with lots of twists.
  • Strange characters, depicting some famous 80’s icons, and funny dialogues.
  • Adult humour and challenging puzzles.
  • Original soundtrack.

Here’s a little trailer for you:

Not Another Weekend hits Steam on the 20th of May. Coincidentally, it’s on a Thursday. Just in time for another weekend…
