I’m not one for online play—at all—but Once Human has been an amazing online experience so far. Bear in mind that this third-person extravaganza from Starry Studio and NetEase Games is in a Closed Beta, so don’t expect any reviews anytime soon.

In the latest massive update, players can now add Deviation companions that provide offensive, defensive, or healing support for themselves and their allies. The Eternaland region is available—a safe haven where Meta-humans can recuperate and hang out at the watercooler with strangers. Plus, there are many new seasonal features, including a wealth of build/creative opportunities.

Once Human is an upcoming supernatural open-world survival shooter. Though in Beta, it already is on an epic scale with online events, solo side-quests, boss battles and an abundance of customisation options. That supernatural element can get mildly confusing, and the game does have a sort of Death Stranding vibe (minus the deliveries), and that’s a good thing.

Once Human will be released later in 2024 on PC and consoles. It’s currently ranked as Steam’s #2 multiplayer online survival game—that’s with a limited number of players, what with it being a Closed Beta.
