Paranoid? Before Leaving The House, Wishlist This Title
How can the folk at Madmind Studio sleep? Not necessarily because they come up with some sinister creations (Succubus Prologue) but because they’re just so prolific – their latest being Paranoid.
A first-person survival horror set in the 80s, Paranoid has the selling point of being ‘an extensive, psychological story with dynamic and brutal combat’. I don’t doubt for a second that it will deliver on those terms.
Exclusively designed for Steam, the game follows protagonist Patrick, a character struggling with a progressing mental illness who has a history of trauma – notably the loss of loved ones. The voices become so dominant that this behaviour pushes him towards the unthinkable.
Confined to his apartment, he gets a call from his sister, who has been missing for 13 years. It comes with a condition as he’ll have to venture out from seclusion, facing the demons that put him on the verge of madness.
Key features in Paranoid include:
- A dynamic and brutal combat system
- Raytracing and 4k support
- A constant struggle between paranoia and reality
- Terrifying opponents
- Drug abusing gameplay mechanics
- A deep plot combining psychological horror with action and survival
- A disturbing atmosphere that combines psychosis and surrealism
- Realistic visual setting
- Three endings depending on the style of the player’s gameplay
- Cinematic cutscenes
Reading about it and looking at the screenshots are relatively creepy. How about some moving images to cement those thoughts in your imagination?
Paranoid doesn’t have a release date as yet, but that doesn’t stop you bookmarking it/adding to your wishlist on Steam.
