Predator Hunting Grounds Announced For April 2020

April looks to be a good month in 2020 as not only do we have the Resident Evil 3 remake on the way, but also Predator Hunting Grounds.

It’s being touted as an immersive asymmetrical shooter, but to you and me, let’s just say it’s a third-person action game with varying perspectives depending on the situation. Scratch that, I like the press material more.

In Predator Hunting Grounds you can play either as the elite military team (minus Dutch) that take on the predator(s) head-on, or even better, play one of a handful of predator classes.

Now I don’t know about you, but I wasn’t really fond of the introduction of all these varying classes and general varieties of the loveable aliens. I’m old school, having originally had the first film on VHS. When Alien Vs. Predator came out, I lost interest but in terms of gameplay, these classes look pretty cool.

Have a look at the Predator Hunting Grounds trailer below, but I’ll summarise the classes below if you’re at work or have a low-speed internet connection.

Here’s the skinny on classes:

The Hunter

  • Versatile hunting style
  • Balanced weapon choice

This is your all-rounder, Ryu or Mario – they can adapt to their environment and no doubt have a suitable trick up their sleeve/armoured claw.

The Berserker

  • Savage power
  • Extra health

Undoubtedly my go-to character, come April 2020. The knuckled head of the bunch who will tank their way through while taking minimal damage.

The Scout

  • Increased speed
  • Ultimate stamina

Arguably for the strategic player. The sort of characters tend to have the most flair but at the sacrifice of health and damage. However, this one could be the perfect Predator when it comes to stealth.

All the traditional predator weapons appear in Predator Hunting Grounds such as the gauntlet, plasma cannon and spear.

The humans don’t seem to have much going for them at the moment other than numbers, as the recent State of Play trailer just shows them getting mowed down, or firing off some pretty standard machine guns.

When you see the bow, that’s when I got even more excited. I haven’t seen one used in modern combat since Crysis 3, but before I could start analysing, something else caught my attention: a female Predator.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I haven’t seen any females in any of the films or videogames (I don’t read comics so can’t vouch for that). That’s going to be a great addition and I don’t doubt for one second that she (or they) will be a badass.

Predator Hunting Grounds is on the radar for April 2020, so let’s see what happens. In the meantime, if you’re a Predator fan, check out this YouTube channel for some awesome Predator CG models.
