Scavengers Early Access Release Date All Set

This introduction to the Scavengers Early Access launch began with a bit of excitement but mild disappointment as it wouldn’t be a game I’d likely play: it’s exclusively an online multiplayer. Still, it’s a PvEvP environment, so if that’s your bag, it looks like a hoot.

The trailer, like most, made this survival shooter look epic. At a glance, I was getting hints of sandalwood, Oud, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands and Monster Hunter. Probably not the same results as any other sane person.

In teams of three, players (also known as Explorers) have to survive each match by eliminating their enemies and salvaging the most data points. This is through stealth tactics or head-on clashes. Each Explorer has set skills, and players will be able to craft new weapons along the way with machine gun recipes, along with some killer cupcakes.

The downside of Scavengers Early Access, from my perspective, is it isn’t a solo experience. Well, perhaps there will be modes like Fortnite, and you can risk it along at some point as it already features AI opponents and a healthy dose of environmental hazards and the ability to track players in the snow.

Here are some key features from the game ‘developed by veterans from the Halo, Battlefield, and Battlefront franchises’:

• Secure Victory in Various Ways: To win a match in Scavengers teams must survive, battle against both AI opponents and rival squads, and exfil the planet with the most datapoints. How you do it is up to you: avoid contact with other players, stealthily pick off vulnerable foes from afar, or go toe-to-toe by boldly challenging rivals head-on. A team only loses when all three members are eliminated. 
• Choose Unique Explorers: Players have multiple characters, or “Explorers”, to choose from. Each Explorer comes equipped with a signature weapon and a unique ability; a range of dynamic powers to buff defense, agility, utility, and more. 
• Set Dedicated Loadouts: Mix-and-match weapons, items, and abilities to build the ideal loadout to fit a variety of playstyles. While many weapons can be found throughout the frozen wasteland, players can also create distinctive weapons via crafting recipes to further diversify their equipment.

Midwinter Entertainment’s game will be handed on a plate concocted by Twitch streamers tomorrow (28th of April) as Early Access keys will be allocated to some players, getting a glimpse of the game before anyone else.

You’ll have to set up an Improbable account and watch at least 30 minutes of a stream to qualify, but you can find more details on the official Scavengers site.
