Fans of Suda51 and Shinji Mikami will be thrilled to hear about Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered – the 2011 road movie action-adventure game – and it’ll be heading to PC and consoles, courtesy of Grasshopper Manufacture Inc.
The game occurs in a ‘super-eccentric Hell + rock & roll themed world’, where we ride with demon hunter Garcia Hotspur as he tracks down the demon king, slaying all those in his way. Baddies, of course.
Key things to note about Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered include:
- A crazy, passionate, raging “love-hate road movie” – The rugged and somewhat-misguided protagonist Garcia and his sidekick, Johnson the skull, rock out with their… hearts out throughout the insanity of Hell in order to recapture his girlfriend Paula, who has been kidnapped by Fleming, the demon king of Hell.
- Go buck wild through the hilarious dungeons of Hell using powers of “light & dark” – “Light & dark” are the keys to winning this battle. In the darkness, the demons grow in strength – as if they were rocking out in the club – and in the light, they weaken, like waking up with a hardcore hangover. Use your partner Johnson and his myriad of weapon-based forms to blast your way through the darkness of Hell.
- An action-adventure gem forged by a pair of amazing game creators – A scenario by Suda51 and Shinji Mikami’s TPS artistry fused together in a masterpiece! Respective notable works: Goichi “Suda51” Suda: No More Heroes series, killer7, etc. Shinji Mikami: Resident Evil, God Hand, etc.
PAX East attendees will get the chance to play the game this weekend, and everyone else (including me), will have to wait for later in the year when Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered releases on Steam, PlayStation, Xbox and the Switch.
