Super Arcade Football Is Out Of The Bag (Early Access)
Football games are among my favourite, but I’m no big fan of either FIFA or PES, so happy to try out new IPs at any opportunity. Despite being on Early Access since 2016, Super Arcade Football’s a new one for me.

- The Best Of Two Worlds In Shin Chan: Shiro And The Coal Town
- Blood Hunting Is Dark And Dangerous, This Summer On PS5
- Age of Defense Review: This Takes Ages
From OutOfTheBit, this indie sports title is very much like Sensible Soccer (a huge compliment), only there are so many more modern bells and whistles on offers such as couch play for up to four players and online play too. If you don’t have any friends, you can play against the computer. YES!
Five years is a long time in Early Access, but the developers have a better grasp of the phase than most, starting small and building upon the base model to be feature-packed. Initially accessible football with simple controls, there’s now a story mode in Super Arcade Football.
Additionally, you’ll be able to change the pitch, make custom tournaments, and even change the size of the goal – which probably means extending the jumpers for goalposts. But BEST of all, the soundtrack is by Barry Leitch, who worked on Lotus Turbo Challenge 2 – arguably the first proper stereo experience I had from a game with full-on stack system speakers. Class.
