Is It Getting Hot In Here Or Is It RTS Tempest Rising?
Nobody wants to go to war, but when it’s fictitious RTS Tempest Rising, sign me up. I got chills – chills, I tell ya, having seen the trailer for it just now. It’s like Command & Conquer all over again. Wifey: hold my appointments – I’ve got some strategising to do.
Ditching that cornball FMV from the beloved series, this new game from Slipgate Ironworks, 3D Realms, and THQ Nordic looks like the mutts. I was so excited I stopped the trailer a few seconds in to write this.
Tempest Rising currently has a playable demo where you play the Global Defense Forces (GDF), who take on the Tempest Dynasty in the first stage of the upcoming campaign. This looks like an essential title, featuring base-building, five unique units, and old-school RTS combat.
Key features include:
- Classic RTS base-building with fast, fluid, hard-hitting combat and tons of customization
- Three asymmetrical factions, each featuring unique harvesting models, individual secondary resource systems, and distinct rosters of units providing drastically different playstyles
- Two epic single-player campaigns with between-mission cutscenes to drive the story
- Skirmish and multiplayer modes, including ranked matchmaking with Elo rating and unranked matchmaking
Watch the trailer for yourself:
The Tempest Rising demo will only be available until the 28th of August, 2023, so hurry up. If you’re reading this afterwards, make sure to wishlist on Steam. You’d be a fool not to.
