Is The Last Ninja Collection Launching A Kickstarter Campaign?
One of the greatest ninja series is getting a revival via a Kickstarter campaign: The Last Ninja Collection begins this month.
This must be a prank - The Last Ninja Collection comes to Kickstarter? You mean the classic ninja strategy game from System 3. Wait... International Karate AND IK+ prototypes? This is cruel, but get this: true.
As an Amiga die-hard, IK+ was one of the go-to beat 'em ups and will forever remain on a pedestal, but The Last Ninja series was fantastic. Having recently started Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun, I had a few flashbacks to the game originally played on the C64 - now it's a reality if the Kickstarter gets funded.
System 3 is behind The Last Ninja Collection, bringing every title from the C64, ZX Spectrum and Amiga, and includes the following:
The Last Ninja
The Last Ninja 2
Last Ninja 3
Ninja Remix
Bangkok Knights
International Karate
IK +
Diamond Ultimate supporters of the campaign will also get Last Ninja 4 work in progress code and demos from 2002 and 2018, plus IK++.
I’m really excited to bring The Last Ninja Collection to Kickstarter... Before Souls-like was a genre, The Last Ninja defined it, and to bring these titles and more, including the International Karate series to Nintendo Switch and PC is a real salute to Archer Maclean and his legacy. Video games must be preserved at all costs, and I’m thrilled we’re able to lead the way in securing a physical legacy for years to come – Mark Cale, CEO of System 3
The Last Ninja Collection will launch in early September, aiming to launch on PC and Switch in early 2025. Fellow ninjas can register interest now on the Kickstarter page.
