The progress of The Perfect Pencil, for me, is like purposefully going out of your way to avoid a building site so that every now and then, you can check in and see its development and gawp in awe. Studio Cima has been hard working on this for some time, and it's time to pay them a visit, then subsequently gawp.

A hand-drawn psychological platformer, you explore a surreal kingdom from the perspective of the protagonist, John. John has an uncanny ability to see those around him, as well as inanimate objects, at face value, and what others may overlook.

However, this isn't a passive jolly through dream-like landscapes of candyfloss and moonbeams, as John will battle bosses in the form of 'monstrous manifestations, each symbolizing unique elements of the human psyche', in turn, making you question reality.

The Perfect Pencil has been a passion project of ours for years... We wanted to create a game that both tells a personal story, while also filling the player with wonder, offering surreal sights unlike anything they’ve seen – studio director Stefano Rauzi.

The Perfect Pencil is coming to Steam and Nintendo Switch in Spring 2025, and looks wonderful. If you haven't already wishlisted it, well, wishlist it!
