The Skylia Prophecy, For It Was Written A Release On Steam Would Come, Would It Not?
I’m reluctant to use the term Metroidvania, but The Skylia Prophecy is promoted as one, and I don’t want to end up on the wrong side of magic and get turned into something unpleasant.
It’s a side-scrolling action game from Ezekiel Rage (great name) and indie publisher Plug In Digital, catering to those with a sophisticated retro palette as it’s a nod to 16-bit titles like Metroid and Castlevania. ‘They’ should make up a new genre-fusing the two…
Out on Steam today, you play as Mirenia – a teenage girl who unleashed an evil entity at the age of 15, she heads into the Tirkin Fortress to undo what has been done.
The Skylia Prophecy is an action RPG that allows you to upgrade Mirenia’s powers in a ‘hard but fair difficulty’. For most of us, that means super hard, but the RPG element gives you a chance to level up.
Key features include:
- Upgrade Mirenia with a level and magic system
- Over a dozen different locations
- Beautiful pixel-art
- Story-driven exploration
- Tough-as-nails difficulty
- Atmospheric Music
- Challenging and complex boss battles
