Because the release date for Theatre of Sorrows is today, it’s not breaking any secret allegiances to developers/publishers/warlocks by saying that it’s got me hooked already.

Developed by Cat-astrophe Games (The Unholy Society) and published by Ultimate Games, the game is a horror title that lurks in the depths of an H.P. Lovecraft tale, only this is a unique spin,

You play Killian, searching for his twin Eileen who disappeared 20 years ago. Yep, you guessed it: there’s a reason why he’s still looking as a mysterious cult claims to have captured her and tells him to come to Esha if he wants to save her.

Though the visuals looked quite nice, I was hesitant after seeing the trailer and wondered what I signed up for. It doesn’t do it justice! This isn’t the review, so hold that thought. All I’ll say is this is like those classic Steve Jackson books of old, serving up multiple paths while managing resources.

Do watch the Theatre of Sorrows trailer, but honestly, this is an engaging game, and once I’ve caught up with some gaming news, I’ll be returning to Esha.

Theatre of Sorrows is out now on the Nintendo Switch. My review will materialise around this time next week, if not before!
