A sickening statement for internet fans, but I’m not a fan of cats. I don’t dislike them, but more on the side of Team Dog. However, that could change based on retrowave puzzler U27RA R3Z0NANC3.

From Dumitru “Dumivid” Dulgheru, this puzzle game is about a cat named Neko, searching for The Truth by reaching Zawarudo End’s™, and outsmarting his evil brother, Wevil.

Using ‘complicated puzzle traps’, Neko is undeterred by his overprotective brother, solving each problem with as cool as a cucumber cat. Here are some of the features in U27RA R3Z0NANC3:

  • New take on a familiar formula. Play a sobokan-like as never seen before.
  • Resonate your way through 100 challenging levels. The map is open and allows to choose your own pace.
  • Witness the legendary clash between big and small paws!
  • Survive through some brutally edgy jokes.
  • Discover a kitten side of your own self.
  • Remember to “paws” when you feel stuck.
  • 夜 mode. A mysterious setting rumored to cause spontaneous feelings of nostalgia.
  • Colorblind friendly mode. Colors are assisted with white contrasting symbols.
  • “that th1ng”.

It doesn’t take any skill to note this developer’s wit, and aside from this self-awareness, another lure (or catnip) for the game is the stunning retrowave soundtrack. I’ve been repeat-listening and pleased to see that it’s available on Spotify and Bandcamp.
