If you say ‘inspired by Grim Fandango‘, would there be much point in writing much more about upcoming Ultreïa? Anyone can say they’ve been inspired by something, but a closer look, and you can see the influence, as well as Machinarium.

Another title from the publishers who don’t sleep, this point and click adventure, will be heading to the Switch this week. Referred to as a cute but dark tale, you play as a pilgrim-wanderer looking for some sort of meaning.

Ultreïa is set in the robot city of Mount St-Troy (among other desirable locations), and you’ll encounter a wealth of robots, each with their unique personalities and languages. C++ perhaps?

Key features include:

  • Beautiful story about the meaning of life and death
  • Puzzles and inventory to crafting
  • Different ways of dialogue and unique language for different robots
  • Unique art and sound design inspired by the sweet darkness of Grim Fandango and the ambiance of Machinarium
  • About 4 – 5 hours to complete the game
  • More than 50 locations to discover and explore with over 1000 lines of dialogue
  • Original soundtrack by Yann Latour

I saw the trailer on my telly last night and immediately jotted it down. It’s a point and click, come on.

Fortunately, that wait for Ultreïa isn’t long at all – it’ll be out on the 25th of March for the Nintendo Switch. If it hits my inbox, I’ll be sure to report my findings next week!
