Unwording is a game I’ve been meaning to write about for a couple – maybe even a few weeks now. It wasn’t a title that came through via press, but as I follow the devs, Frostwood Interactive, I saw a link via their Twitter feed.
So what’s the deal? Well… it’s a narrative puzzle game about happiness, gratitude, and the power of our thoughts. That’s all quoted directly from the Steam page, plus they’re the team behind Forgotten Fields and Rainswept – both of which I enjoyed, though my quotes died a death on the Steam page. <sniff sniff>.
The artwork in the game is a mixture of 2D and 3D, with a very rosy palette. You play Tom, one of those chaps who sees negativity in everything. You know the type. Perhaps that’s you? However, that all changes when a little bird enters his life. And no, that’s not a derogative term – an actual bird.
Here’s the trailer:
Unwording looks great. From the art style to the proposed puzzles, but it’s the narrative element that appeals to me most. Could the devs confirm three is the magic number with yet another mesmerising story? It’s out in September, so find out then…
