True adventurers should know who Jules Verne is. If you don’t, tsk tsk. The latest game to take a large helping form inspiration pie is Verne: The Shape of Fantasy – available as a playable demo on Steam.

Set in Hemera, a fantastic parallel world built from his own imagination, the game is an evolution of the point and click – a little similar to Lacuna in that it can be played with conventional controls and dynamic conversation options.

Verne: The Shape of Fantasy is a 2D steampunk pixel art piece from Gametopia that is likely to resonate with old school fans as well as new ones. Verne’s work is timeless, innit?
