What New Games Are Out In February?
New games? Time waits for no man, nor does it wait until this piece is up and ready to post. Below is a list of upcoming titles, mostly on the Nintendo eShop, for the month of February.
New titles have a habit of coming out of nowhere, so this list isn’t exhaustive, just some highlights to give an indication of what to look out for, and perhaps hide your pocket money for an extra week or so.
Out Now
Life Is Strange 2: Complete Season
The follow up to Life Is Strange, Life Is Strange 2: Complete Season follows the story of Sean, a teenager who gets caught up in a little scuffle with a neighbour that spirals into a bit of a saga. Is it a coming of age type game? Perhaps. Having not played the original, it might be time to do some homework. Coincidently, Life Is Strange 2: Complete Season is developed by Dontnodentertainment who made Vampyr. Not a coincidence, just a cheap way to look at that review in case you haven’t had the chance to play it yet.

The Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance Tactics
Seems only recently that The Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance Tactics was announced and while it’s noted on my release calendar, I haven’t been able to pick it up yet. I had reached out to the publishers, but not a sniff, so this will be out of the budget (beer money) this weekend as I’m behind. Zombie Army 4: Dead War
Never heard of this one until I looked up the official site. So it’s a take on of the Sniper Elite franchise and in the mould of Red Dead Redemption and the Undead Nightmare spin-off, you battle Hitler’s undead with another three players. Sounds awesome. Online multiplayer doesn’t appeal to me, but there’s a single-player campaign included. Once I finish Sniper Elite 4 and all the downloads, I might give this one a go!

Wide Ocean Big Jacket
The graphics simply caught my eye on Wide Ocean Big Jacket. To be honest, without looking it up, I understand that this is a text-based story set on a campsite with the focus of the story more than the gameplay. As a fan of story-lead titles, this could be a nice quick playthrough that is suited to on-the-go gaming. The artwork is nice and vibrant and if there are consequences based on dialogue choices, even more of a reason to give it a try.
It’s currently available on the Switch.
Out Later In The Month
Yakuza 5
On the 11th February, the remastered version of Yakuza 5 hits western shores. Most of us are still playing through the titles before that, plus there’s Judgment to play if you’ve platinumed all of the Yakuza titles. Of course, you have. Yakuza 5 has the biggest roster of playable characters, five, including Taiga Saejima once again – the beast.
On PS4 from the 11th of February, then on the Switch… if only.
Devil May Cry 3
When Devil May Cry first came out on the PS2 back on the, it shook things up a little. It was a classic arcade type game you’d expect from Capcom, but it had a bit more depth to learning combos and modifiers in what appeared to be a typical third-person game. The Switch already got the ports for the series, so Devil May Cry 3 is next on the list. Let’s just hope that Capcom’s pricing strategy is a little realistic, eh?
Get it on the Switch for your loved one, 14th February.
Samurai Shodown
The Switch is lacking in beat ’em ups at the moment. There’s a fair share of side-scrollers like Mother Russia Bleeds or The Ninja Warriors: Return of the Warriors, but other than Street Fighter II and the lacklustre Mortal Kombat 11, there aren’t many one-on-one fighters. Forever immortalised on the Neo Geo, Samurai Shodown now makes its way to the Switch. But, how will it handle and is it likely to be expensive?

One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows
Hopefully, one to kick Dragonball Z and One Piece off the perch, One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows is out towards the end of the month. There have already been announcements of characters that are available, and perhaps further DLC in the future as there is a hell of a lot of heroes. Read the news piece here.
Out on PS4 on the 28th of February.
SEN: Seven Eight Nine
Thanks to an early review copy from Indie Champions, I was able to give SEN: Seven Eight Nine an early playthrough. The review is up here, and I can confidently say that this is puzzler is still a go-to title for when I want to chill.
Out on PS4 and the Switch from the 6th February.
Knights and Bikes
Ok, let’s stop promoting Double Fine for a minute and focus on the developers of the game, Foam Sword. Their debut, Knights and Bikes is out tomorrow on the Switch, and quite frankly, I’m looking forward to playing it. Eventually. If you’re still quick, today gets deemed a pre-order day and you get 10% – wahey!

The Turing Test
And if those titles don’t keep you going tomorrow, The Turing Test is out not long after. A first-person puzzler that apparently ‘explores the phenomena of consciousness and challenges the meaning of human intuition’. Sounds swell. There are many other wonders due this month to contend with March – bound to be a busy month. Honourable mentions go to Darksiders Genesis which is out on the 14th, as is Psikyo Shooting Stars Bravo which is out on the 21st. Not knowing anything about either title, watch out for any news pieces later in the week should there be anything worth sharing.
