Following on from the brilliant What The Golf? (look out for the PS5 review in a bit), Triband has confirmed that they are tackling the driving genre with What The Car?
I want to say that this is an exclusive, but the game launched on Apple Arcade last year, winning a prestigious DICE Award a few days ago. In the game, you play a car with legs. Why so surprised? Have you played the predecessor?
With hundreds of unique levels, What The Car? is chock-full of jumps, jetpacks, special deliveries, and anything unrelated to an actual driving game. With legs. Here are some of those features:
- A WORLD TO EXPLORE – It’s not all racing. Explore the many islands to meet new friends, find hidden treasures or try your best at the quirky puzzles. (Hint: Look behind the waterfalls!)
- CREATE YOUR OWN LEVELS – Make your own wacky levels, share them with friends and family, or climb the leaderboards of levels made by other players. Hint: Adding cute bears and speed pads that go vroom works every time!
- OKAY, IT GETS REALLY SILLY – You’ll be flipping burgers, fishing, swimming, and singing CAR-aoke!
- Hint: Don’t try to talk to the laser cow
- DISCLAIMER – This game is for entertainment purposes only and will absolutely not improve your driving skills in any way. Actually, no one on the development team even owns a car.
- SPOILER: apparently this is a thing you can attach to the back of a car to make it look cool… Who knew?!

If you don’t already have Apple Arcade and aren’t keen on switching to a Mac, you’ll have to wait until What The Car? comes to Steam later in the year. It’ll be worth it, mind.
