Back in the old days, the keyword ‘SEX’ would get anyone’s attention. For me it’s chill, sandbox and point and click. Ok, so Wild Souls isn’t a point and click, but you do point, plus you also click…

From solo developer Halfondarr, this is a ‘chill ecosystem’ that takes inspiration from Don’t Starve and Zoo Tycoon. You’ll question my credentials, but I’ve played neither, but like what I see here.

Wild Souls begins with you as the Souls Keeper, collecting animal carcasses and dead plants, but what you’re doing is collecting their souls to create new life. Sorry to put a hold on there, Wednesday Addams. You’ll learn the ins and outs of each species by watching them grow like a proud parent.

Key features include:

  • Collect souls as a currency, spend them wisely to add new creatures and plants.
  • Create different biomes by painting which climate should each part of the map belong to
  • Control any animal : you can now try to survive in the very environment you created !
  • Observe your world evolve, see the livings interacts with each other in a lot of ways
  • Follow the rythm of seasons : Winter can be a difficult time for all, but in the Spring flowers will regrow on their own !
  • Relax : listen to the sounds of nature, the music, and release stress
  • Unlock new species by completing little quests

Here’s a trailer:

Wild Souls is out today in Early Access on Steam. Interested? You can try the demo now, so get yourself a drink, find the comfy cushions, and then give it a look-see.
