Another Steam Next Fest is on the way, and it’ll be one I’ll be sitting out in terms of coverage and instead cherry-picking the best. Could deck-building adventure game Wildfrost be one of those titles?
From Gaziter & Deadpan Games and published by Chucklefish, this deck-building also poses as a rogue-like where you have to take back a world frozen by the game’s namesake.
In the demo playable during the festival, you’ll be able to play with the Snowdweller Tribe and experience ‘three battles per run with six possible mini-bosses and a frosty final boss! There are also 23 cute companions to collect and 45 glacial items and clunkers to experiment with’.
Key features in Wildfrost include
- A perfect mix of deckbuilding and adventure. Wildfrost lets you test your card battling skills as you fight to save the village of Snowdwell.
- The option to pick your ‘Leader’ from a variety of different tribes at the beginning of each journey, each gifted with different randomised stats and skills.
- The opportunity to plan ahead using the ‘counter dynamic system’ to exploit foes and frosty monsters’ weaknesses!
- New cards and a new way to tackle each battle to collect during each encounter. The way you strategise each fight is up to you!
- Endless replayability with new daily challenges and runs.
Wildfrost demo is available during October’s Steam Next Fest, with the full game releasing in the winter.
