Young Souls Unleashes The Twin Effect On Steam Today

2D brawler meets story-rich action RPG? Young Souls is out today on Steam, and if we’re judging a book by its cover, this game by 1P2P and The Arcade Crew looks fabulous.

First impressions gave off a slight mix of Shing! and Flynn: Son of Crimson, perhaps even a bit of Cris Tales. Regardless, this is a beautiful game and backs it up with variety.

First of all, there’s the story. You play rebellious twins, Jenn and Tristan, on the hunt for their foster father. Shifting between two very different worlds, you can kit out your hero with new accessories and improved stats to complement your playing style; the second is the meat and potatoes: fighting the likes of goblins.

Young Souls is a side-scrolling hack n’ slash that can be played as a single-player or in co-op. There’s fun for all the family with more weapons than you can shake a stick at (hey, a stick is useful). I added that last bit as I got interrupted and forgot what I was going to write. Probably something that would have changed your life. Oh well…

Key features in Young Souls include:

  • Play a dynamic & deep side-scrolling RPG beat ‘em up as Jenn and Tristan, solo or in co-op, as you explore the four unique biomes of the goblins’ twisted world and the stylish world of the humans.
  • Customise your combat gear by unlocking & upgrading hundreds of weapons, armour sets and accessories, to save the world as you know it.
  • Unlock unexpected story paths as you fight your way through dozens of epic dungeons, hordes of enemies and over 20 fearsome bosses in the goblin realm.
  • Young Souls combines the classic beat ‘em up and story-rich role-playing genres through a beautifully crafted story, and in a world crafted with stunning art direction.
