It can't be helped: the site lives on. That itch must be fulfilled with an adventure of some kind - a point and click adventure, on itch.io, called Neon Hearts City. A quick click before perusing the inventory, and it's evident that this is yet another Cosmic Void title. Do they sleep?! Their most recent game, The Devil's Hideout, was only recently released and already, there's another game in the pipeline.

In Neon Hearts City, you play private investigator Elijah. On his way to a late night bowl of ramen, Scarlett grabs his gaze and instructs him to locate her missing daughter, Audrey. The best place to search? An empty basketball court, delivering a warm beer, and then hanging out at the local comic book store.

Blood Nova Is An Indie Adventure With Heart, That You’ll Love
After a devastating event on an interstellar lighthouse, Princess Love must solve a conspiracy before it’s too late. Blood Nova out now on Steam.

Without too many in-jokes that wouldn't go amiss in the View Askew universe, Elijah puts his investigative skills to the test by matching a comic book logline with its respective cover. Read the hint and then click the comic and you'll be rewarded with progress, and that's about it. The music is quite forgettable, and there's not one bit of fanfare or feedback with your efforts. Comic book dweebs.

Using Neon Hearts City's world map, Elijah heads to the beach to meet up with a stranger in the hope that they know more about Audrey's disappearance, but just as they reveal a little bit of a lead - boom! Cliffhanger. Damn those ravens, and that ginger shadow who dangled the narrative carrot.

Once again, there's some excellent visuals on display and ignoring the comic book store, some decent, ambient music that make this an alluring find. The narrative already does feel somewhat convoluted, and the puzzles thus far a bit... sus. That said, we're in safe hands and confident the dev will pull yet another bespoke yarn out of the bag.

Nightmare Frames Is A Film Fan’s Dream
Mullets optional, join Alan Goldberg - the infamous screenwriter of The Lunactic in Nightmare Frames - a point and click adventure set in 1985’s Hollywood.

The Neon Hearts City demo is available on itch.io, as is Comic Void's rather unique Tommy Gun Witches. Play that, too.
